Legacy Cheerleading

This is Legacy Cheerleading! Manitoba's newest all star cheerleading program. We are built on a foundation of dedication to our athletes, and ran by a group of talented and knowledgeable community members who keep the progress of our sport and it's athletes at the forefront of their minds. Each member of Legacy is a driven and self motivated athlete, who was brought up on the same virtues and guiding values that we hope to bestow upon our athletes. Since day one we have focused on principles of success such as perseverance, focus, determination and confidence. With these ideas guiding us, and with these thoughts being placed and nurtured in the minds of our young ones, we were able to have an incredibly successful debut season, and will continue to refine our craft, to push our program into the spotlight.

Every business can tell you what they do, but let us explain why we do it. We are here to give our athletes everything that cheer has given us. We are here to promote confidence in our youth. We are here to safely develop the body and minds of these kids into the most successful versions of themselves. We are here to meticulously and patiently grow our athletes as individuals at their own pace, through carefully and strategically designed progressions. Lastly, we are here to show the world that cheerleading is one of the most challenging and rewarding sports in the world, and that cheer is home to some of the best athletes the world has to offer.

2019-2020 Open Tumbling Information

Drop in tumbling will be available for athletes who are not registered in a Legacy Cheerleading program starting in October.

Parents may refer to the class descriptions below to determine which class their athlete should sign up for. Remember to take note of the age requirements and prerequisites.

Tumbling Basics
Saturdays - 7:30pm-8:30pm

This class teaches the basics of tumbling including essential body shapes and fundamental movements. It focuses on level 1 skills such as rolls, cartwheels, front walkovers, back walkovers, and round offs. The goal is for athletes to be able to max out their level 1 tumbling skills, including connection series and specialty passes, and prepares athletes for level 2 tumbling. This class is for

Prerequisites: none

Learning Handsprings
Saturdays - 4:30pm-5:30pm

This class focuses on the basics of level 2 tumbling. In this session athletes will learn how to use strong body shapes and proper technique in standing back handsprings, front handsprings, and round off back handsprings. The drills and exercises in this class focus on increasing strength, power, and body control and prepares athletes for level 2 tumbling. Perfecting these basic level 2 tumbling skills are essential for progressing to more advance tumbling.
Ages: all ages
Prerequisites: round off, front walkover, back walkover

Series Handsprings
Sundays - 7:15pm-8:15pm

This class is geared toward level 2 athletes who want to max out their tumbling skills and prepare themselves for flipping skills such as front and back tucks. It focuses on providing athletes with the proper technique and strength to connect series back handsprings and create power in their tumbling passes. A strong series back handsprings is a prerequisite for performing level 2 specialty passes and moving onto level 3 tumbling skills.

Prerequisites: standing back handspring, front handspring, and round off back handspring
Please arrive 15 minutes early in order to warm up before the class starts

Tucks, Layouts, Twisting
Sundays - 7:45pm-8:45pm

This class focuses on level 3+ tumbling skills including tucks, layouts, twisting, and specialty passes such as whips and arabians. This class looks different for each athlete depending on where they are at and what they are learning. While this class is completely structured, athletes are required to work more independently or in groups compared to other classes as the coaches are providing training for a number of athletes across different levels. This class provides training in both front and back tumbling as well as specialty passes so that athletes have a wide range of skills.

Prerequisites: round off series back handsprings (min 3 in a row), standing series back
handsprings (min 3 in a row)
